JOB DESCRIPTION: The Director of Development works closely with and reports to the Executive Director coordinating all fundraising efforts to support arts and education programming and preservation of Carnegie Hall.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develop and execute the Hall’s fundraising plan including, but not limited to: Membership Drive, Sponsorship Drive, Special Events • With the Executive Director, develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors
• Secure financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations • Develop an annual grant plan including research, development and submission of new grants as well as continuing grants • Work closely with the management team: Artistic, Education and Executive Directors to strategize marketing and determine funding needs and resources • With the Director of Marketing, develop a marketing plan and timeline • Work closely with the Director of Volunteers and Special Events to implement annual fundraisers including, but not limited to: TOOT, Monte Carlo Night, Rhythm Blues and All That Jazz Festival • Work closely with the database coordinator to assure acknowledgements are mailed, development of mailing lists for giving campaigns and to identify potential donors as well as maintain past donor relationships. • Work with the Executive Director and Directors of Programming to develop annual budget • Act as a representative of the organization in the community building on established partnerships with businesses while developing new partnerships and relationships
QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor of Arts Degree in a related field or experience equivalent • Understanding of the history, culture, programs and constituency of Carnegie Hall as demonstrated through prior experiences and/or employment • Two years experience in nonprofit development • Flexibility in scheduling; some evenings and weekends required • Superior references related to development work • Demonstrates excellence in organizational, writing and oral communication skills • Experience with social networking, including face book, twitter and constant contact • Superior computer skills including Microsoft office, adobe creative suite – knowledge of Raisers Edge a plus |
